Patents

This datastream present patent data originating from Tools for Innovation Monitoring (TIM). 

The patent data are mapped by country using fractional counting and show the number of inventions for the fuel cell, clean hydrogen production and hydrogen storage sectors, by technology type and year of application. 

The alternative charts show a country by country comparison and the trends in patents over time. 

Historical data are presented from 2006 - 2024. The patent data was sourced at August 2025 and has at least a delay of 18 months. Therefore, the 2023 and 2024 datasets are still to be further completed to be statistically relevant.
