RAG Austria and ANDRITZ are starting construction of a 12.5 MW electrolysis plant in Gampern
RAG Austria, together with its partner ANDRITZ, has officially marked the start of construction work on its new renewable hydrogen production plant in the RAG Valley in Gampern, Upper Austria.
The 12.5 MW electrolysis plant is due to come on stream by the end of 2026 and will be capable of producing 1,500 tonnes of green H2 per year.
Production will be concentrated mainly in the summer, when renewable energy sources – and solar energy in particular – are abundant: the hydrogen will be stored and then converted back into electricity and heat during the winter, when photovoltaic output is lower.
