Welcome to the IPCEI Hydrogen website!

IPCEI Hydrogen is aimed at innovation as well as demonstration and deployment of hydrogen technology. IPCEI Hydrogen consists of four combined clusters of projects from more than half of the European Union member states and from Norway. The projects take place in the complete value chain of hydrogen: production, import, transportation as well as end use.

Currently two clusters of projects – or “waves” – have been notified by the European Commission under State Aid rules. The first wave is called “Hy2Tech” and the second wave is called “Hy2Use”. These two waves consist of almost 80 projects, which are large in size individually: project budgets range from several million euro’s to several hundreds of millions of euro’s per project.

Spain unleashes €1.5Bn hydrogen and green tech blitz

Spain has taken a sweeping step toward dominating Europe’s green hydrogen economy, unleashing €1.22 billion [$1.34 billion USD] in funding for seven hydrogen hub megaprojects totaling 2.3GW across Aragon, Andalusia, Castilla y León, and Galicia. Announced on April 4 by the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), the funding lands under the H2 Valleys programme, which aims to anchor large-scale domestic hydrogen production and industrial use.

EU opens €600m funding call for hydrogen, electricity and CCS infrastructure

The EU’s Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency has launched a call for €600m ($664m) in funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Energy towards key cross-border infrastructure.

Fluxys Hydrogen starts first phase of hydrogen pipeline build-out

First phase work is now underway on the hydrogen pipeline network of Belgium hydrogen network operator Fluxys Hydrogen, with 2026 targeted for completion.
