 Lingen Green Hydrogen (DE38)

The Lingen Green Hydrogen project (LGH2) is executed by bp – a multinational integrated energy company spanning various sectors including oil and gas, bioenergy, convenience, EV charging, hydrogen, renewables and power, with the ambition to be a net zero company by 2050 or sooner. The bp group focuses globally on selective investments to enable hydrogen as a great energy choice for industries that are hard to abate.

The Lingen Green Hydrogen project aims to develop, install, and operate a 100MW electrolysis plant to produce renewable hydrogen. Located adjacent to bp’s refinery in Lingen (Emsland), Germany, the plan is to install a 100-megawatt electrolyser capable of producing up to 11,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year. The hydrogen could be supplied to industrial customers via connection to the German hydrogen core network. Additionally, it could also be used in bp’s refineries to replace part of the grey hydrogen currently used in fuel production. The facility will be powered by electricity from renewable sources, initially secured through a power purchase agreement for offshore wind energy. Construction is already underway, with commissioning planned for 2027.
