HEVO PORTUGAL (PT25)

Hevo Portugal Unipessoal Lda is a company of Fusion Fuel Group set up for the development and scale-up of “HEVO PORTUGAL” project. Fusion Fuel Group is committed to accelerating the energy transition and decarbonising the global energy system by making zero-emissions green hydrogen commercially viable and accessible.

HEVO PORTUGAL project aims to establish a 630 MW green hydrogen production facility, to be developed in Sines, Portugal, generating an estimated 62,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. The hydrogen will be supplied to various offtakers, including large industrial clients, natural gas grid injection, and mobility offtakers. Operating with flexibility, the electrolyser system will accommodate fluctuating solar and wind energy sources while providing ancillary system services to maintain electric grid stability.

The project will prevent  11,000,000 tons of CO2 emissions over its 20-year operational lifetime and contributing to the decarbonisation of the European economy. The green hydrogen will be supplied non discriminatorily through a pipeline ring developed by REN, connecting producers and consumers in the Sines industrial area as part of the future European Hydrogen Backbone.

HEVO Portugal project will be developed in the industrial area of Sines (Sines ZILS) which is managed by AICEP Global Parques. The project will be developed in three phases, namely 10 MW in phase 1 (2024), 90 MW in phase 2 (2025), and 530 MW in phase 3 (2026), with commissioning by the end of 2027.
