mosaHYc: moselle-saar-HYdrogen-conversion (DE28)

The French transmission system operator NaTran and Creos Deutschland Wasserstoff, a subsidiary of the distribution system operator Creos Deutschland, launched the mosaHYc project. The partners see themselves as active participants and drivers of the energy transition and want to contribute to achieving the climate targets with mosaHYc.

In the mosaHYc project, existing gas infrastructure and new pipelines will be used to build a cross-border high-pressure network for the transport of hydrogen. The aim is to create an infrastructure that will enable hydrogen producers and consumers in the "Greater Region" to develop business models in industry, the heating market and the mobility sector. For example, from the beginning the transported hydrogen will be used for decarbonized steel production. Within this aspect different industrial sites will have the opportunity to adapt climate-neutral production using hydrogen. The supply of hydrogen will also be available in the long term and even within increased demand via the connection of mosaHYc to the emerging European hydrogen network system.

As a cross-border infrastructure, mosaHYc is located in the border region between Saarland (Germany) and Grand Est (France), in close proximity to Luxembourg. mosaHYc was launched in 2020.
