Hydrogenious - Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube (DE59)
Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube (DE59)
The Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube project will be executed by Hydrogenious LOHC Infra Bavaria, a subsidiary company of Hydrogenious LOHC.
Founded in 2013, Hydrogenious LOHC provides the missing link for high-performance hydrogen value chains in Europe and worldwide. By binding the molecular hydrogen to the hardly flammable carrier material benzyl toluene (LOHC-BT), LOHC technology allows for easy, safe and flexible hydrogen handling. This makes LOHC a crucial technology and enabler for the build-up of a European clean hydrogen import infrastructure on a multi-ton scale.
Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube focuses on the efficient implementation of a large-scale Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) hub using the existing infrastructure for liquid fuels. The project is located in South Bavaria, Germany, where the first LOHC-BT hub in Central Europe with a hydrogen release capacity of up to 1,800 tonnes per year is built. This hub will supply industrial offtakers in the Danube region and beyond by 2027. Excess hydrogen will be injected into local pipeline networks such as the HyPipe Bavaria to enable even more industries with access to clean hydrogen. Later, this scope can be expanded to a national and international level by utilising the advanced pipeline network connections to the German hydrogen core network and the European Hydrogen Backbone. For flexible and continuous hydrogen supply, Green Hydrogen @ Blue Danube can be linked to existing hydrogen production sites within the LOHC ecosystem.
