H2 VTOL (SK 14)

The project H2 VTOL is executed by TOMARK PROTON, a new hydrogen technology-oriented division of the TOMARK company founded in 1995 in Prešov, Slovak Republic, where TOMARK employs more than 200 people in its production premises with an area of 20,000 m² and is one of the largest suppliers of chassis for truck trailers in the EU. TOMARK develops, certifies and sells its own sports/leisure aircrafts and received numerous awards for engineering and aviation production.

The primary objective of the H2 VTOL project is to develop the first hydrogen-powered vertical take-off and landing aircraft, designed for Urban Air Mobility and Air Rescue. The project aims to deliver advanced design and integrated solutions that enable efficient, sustainable, and safe hydrogen propulsion in aviation, with consideration for interoperability across other modes of transport. The project is also working on aviation CGH₂ tanks and valves, leveraging a digital twin data pool and conducting tests under real flight conditions. The goal is to explore their potential use in other modes of transport while achieving a higher gravimetric index than standard solutions, along with improved lifespan, safety, and recyclability.

The project is located in Prešov in the Slovak Republic. Its implementation has started in October 2024. The flight demonstrator pilot line and thermoplastic composites components pilot line are expected to be operational by 2030. By 2031, the project targets operating hydrogen thermoplastic composite pressure vessel production facility with commercial solutions available for the market.
